Outdoors

Walmer Bridge Day Nursery is designed to allow continuous play both inside and outdoors. The Nursery and Pre-school classes have free flow access to the garden the children are encouraged to explore the natural environment by examining the bug hotel, experimenting in the mud kitchen and learning about growing by planting seeds in our vegetable garden.

The children are given the opportunity to enhance their physical development by using our climbing equipment and balancing tyres whilst also extending their imagination by performing on our secret stage.

Babies have their own outside play area. The area is covered and has a soft surface so the babies can practice their crawling and walking skills. A variety of equipment ensure that the babies have an enjoyable time whilst benefiting from the fresh air.

Where possible the staff take the children to the local park in our ‘Turtle Bus’. They also love going on trips to Longton Brickcroft to choose new books for story time.

Swimming

Swimming is lots of fun, particularly for young children who enjoy getting in the water and splashing around enjoying themselves. But it is not just about fun there are many health benefits. It helps to keep your child’s lungs and heart healthy whilst improving their strength and flexibility. Swimming lessons also provides lifesaving skills and opportunities for rewards which promotes self-confidence.

Our nursery offers swimming lessons for children over the age of three years. The lessons currently take place with a qualified instructor on a Tuesday morning at Longton swimming pool, children who do not attend Tuesday may also join the lesson, but children who do attend that day will be given priority.
